In 2022, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) released two tools that building owners, designers, utility and health officials can use to understand water safety and manage water quality problems.  

Invention 1: A water quality prediction tool

Invention 2: A QMRA decision support tool

“Each tool allows for users to evaluate how their plumbing design and water use may impact chemical and microbiological water safety inside buildings. A variety of contaminants were included such as chemicals and biological organisms.”
